A 16 week training plan for the TARAWERA 50km Ultra (or any 50-60km trail ultra) comprising of 4 runs a week (efficiency focused during the week with a long slow run on trail terrain on the weekend) + cycling, swimming, functional strength training and yoga to help give MAXIMUM variety and decrease the chance of injury.

This plan starts with 4 hours training a week and maxes out at 11 hrs 3 weeks before the race. If you are looking for a fun, time efficient way to get race ready for the TARAWERA 50k with a sprinkle of cross training -this is it. ENJOY.
